What better way to start this blog than by gushing about all the glamorous fashions at the OSCARS. Sunday evening was flooded with breathtaking gowns which left me glued to the television from 11am onwards (thanks E!News). Mad props to all the stylists of these fabulous best dressed women…so on TREND!
- Waist Defining Peplums
- Tangerine Tango Gowns
- Lots of Pastels and Whites
- and lastly…sexy jaw dropping slits!
What defines the perfect look? ….. Flawless from toe to head, and these ladies sure pulled out all the stops!
Here are some of my favs from Oscar night….(I would love to own/borrow/dream about any of these pieces)
Jessica Chastain in Alexander McQueen: She truly had a princess moment on the red carpet. I saw her throughout this entire awards season and she finally had that Ah-ha! moment that we had all been waiting for. The exquisite gold embroidery is to die for!
Stacy Kiebler in Marchesa: I can’t begin to tell you how obsessed I am with Marchesa (I only pray that when I get married one of my looks can be made by the fabulous Georgina and Keren). Back to the dress…Stacy looked like Clooney’s Oscar trophy, so rich, elegant, and divine. The carefully sculpted rosette and shimmery gold fabric was just beautiful!
Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton: Hello Tangerine Goddess! I loved everything about Michelle’s peplum waist gown. This pop of color is such a must have for spring! Even the pink botega veneta clutch makes the perfect accessory to complete the outfit.
Natalie Portman in Christian Dior: This whimsical polka dot coral gown looked so chic on Natalie. The entire look was soft yet powerfully complemented with the bold color of the gown.
Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad: Only miss “Jenny from the block” can pull off such a look and rock the red carpet. The plunging neckline and see through fabric and cutouts was a showstopper.
Penelope Cruz in Armani Prive: Simple and chic, Penelope looked like a princess in her organza gown. Loved the off shoulder look juxtaposed with the generous train.
Angelina Jolie in Versace: This woman could look flawless in anything. Mrs. Pitt was the epitome of sexy with a deep slit gown which revealed her amazingly toned legs.
Tina Fey in Carolina Herrera: Sometimes all you need is the perfect black dress to get on every one’s best dressed list. I must say that this has to be one of Miss Fey’s best looks ever.
Gwenyth Paltrow in Tom Ford: Shopping wish list: Cape. So obsessed with this look. The cape has been a trend for a while, but never have we seen it on the red carpet. Congrats Gwenyth for being so daring…we love it!
Rooney Mara in Givenchy: I’m not in complete awe of this dress but it was so refreshing to see Rooney in something other than black! Her skin is perfection and the color looked absolutely beautiful on her.
Milla Jovovich in Ellie Saab: Love Ellie Saab and love this dress. The shimmery white fabric looked stunning on Milla. The second I saw her step on to the red carpet I already knew the twitterverse would be going in a frenzy. Ladies and Gentlemen, this is how you dress to the Oscars.
Octavia Spencer in Tadashi Shoji: This gown was truly a perfect fit – it made Octavia’s body look amazing. I’ve had the luxury of owning a tadashi piece and let me say that his pieces are exquisite. Congrats to Octavia on winning her oscar!!!
And then there were some ladies that just missed the mark on fashions big night out…
Emma Stone in Giambattista Valli: Emma’s look was just a little too much. The large bow just took over the entire gown and made her look like a present we didn’t want to unwrap.
Melissa McCarthy in Marina Rinaldi: As much as I love this funny lady from the Bridesmaids, this look just wasn’t doing anything for her. It didn’t flatter her body at all.
Kristin Wiig in J Mendel: I’m all for the “less is more” slogan, but this pale tulle fringed dress was a little underwhelming. I wish she would have chose something a little richer.
Viola Davis in Vera Wang: Although I love the bright green, this look was just all wrong. The fabric looked cheap and the bodice just didn’t fit well – her goodies were almost out of the bag!
What did you guys think of my take on Oscar fashion?
