HAIR TREND: This Season is All About Fun BRAIDS!

Oh how the pig-tail braids from our preschool years have evolved and transformed into such a trend for this season. The longer and the more tousled and romantic, the sexier the do! From fishtails, to french braids, to the waterfall, to mini braids interwoven in to the hair, to braids tucked in to buns, to the crown braid and MORE, everyone is having a plait party and braids are kinda a big deal this season. Even celebrities have joined the plait party!

Blake Lively’s intentionally messy braided do exudes a sense of easiness while being incredibly stylish – stylish enough for a movie premier that is.

Jessica Alba styled in a braided up do

Lauren Conrad wearing a braided headband pony tail

Dianna Agron rocking the fishtail braid

Sienna Miller is wearing a bohemian braided headband up do

Amanda Seyfried in a sleek loose one-sided braid

Just like Sienna Miller’s bohemian headband do, Nicole Richie is sporting the same look without pulling her hair in to a loose bun

Why we love the braid trend? They’re fun, easy, and give you a stylish look in an instant! Also, braids are a nice way to get hair out of your face for all those summer days by the beach.

Make a SPLASH in this Season’s Hottest Bathing Suits!

Ladies, that time of year has come again…the time to show off our fab beach bodies that we promised ourselves we would have in our new yrs resolutions. Now whether or not we have upheld those promises or cheated here and there with a sprinkles cupcake, this season’s bathing suits will have each and every one of you wanting to strut what you’ve got  and love the bodies you have!

The hottest trend this season is the ONE PIECE BATHING SUIT. Who would have thought that more coverage could be considered so sexy? From the bold sleekness at Micheal Kors, to the tribal cut outs at Herve Ledger, to the retro chic styles at Marc by Marc Jacobs, the one piece is clearly ruling this spring/summer and we are definitely not missing the bikini.

Another trend we are seeing is the tribal infused bathing suits. Animal prints are hot this season, and these designers show you different ways in which you can embrace the look.

And then we have the sexy retro style bathing suits. From retro one pieces to a high waisted bikini set, the retro bikini is extremely flattering and chic.

image via:

We also have the geometric style bathing suits with cut outs and bold pops of color. These bathing suits are statement pieces and add that touch of sexy with a slight peek-a-boo and bright hues.

Lastly we have the bedazzled bathing suits as seen on the runway at Prada. These highly embellished, curve-flattering styles, accentuate your waistline and are incredibly feminine.

Recent obsession: NEON! It’s bold, its fun, its potent, and its SEXY! We saw splashes of this bright, daring hue all over the spring runways. From Oscar De La Renta, to Nanette Lepore, to Jason Wu, to Luca Luca, NEON made major headlines.

Because spring is all about COLOR, wearing a head-to-toe neon ensemble won’t be considered a bit much, but rather, you’ll be making a statement the second you walk in to a room. But if you’re not feeling so daring, pair some fun neon pieces with more muted tones such as whites or browns, or enhance the look even further by contrasting it with bold magentas and aquas.

A few weeks back I did a post on office chic where my outfit had splashes of neon. Check it out! As you can see, a few neon pieces go a long way and add that extra umph to your outfit.

NEON MUST HAVES: chunky accessories, bags, statement heels, and skinny jeans. WHY? Because they can be worn in so many ways and they spice up any outfit in an instant!

Celebrities who have embraced the NEON trend:

As you can seen, NEON can be worn in so many different ways. Fergie’s bright neon peep toe pumps transforms her simple LBD in to a WOW ensemble! From nails, to accessories, to shoes, to jeans, and more, NEON brings so much life to your look.

Here are some fab neon heels:

All about the FLARE

This season is all about flare dresses – A fitted bodice with a flouncy skirt. We saw this chic ’50’s silhouette all over the spring runways and fell in love.

There are so many options when it comes to the flare dress. Whether it is a basic solid, pleated, lace, printed, or mix matched textured, flare dresses have a flirty, bold, and whimsical appeal. This perfect sweet meets sexy look is super easy to achieve and makes you look amazingly feminine and chic.

Why we love this look: This flattering look creates the illusion of a tiny waistline (and enhances the bodacious curves you already have), and elongates your legs. This look is best for, but not limited to, a woman with an hourglass figure.

How to add drama to this look: Pair the flare dress with a belt around the waist to accentuate the waist even more and add more curvature to your frame. Add some chunky sandals and slick your hair back with some volume for a rockin’ mod look!

Celebrities we love in flare dresses:

High End Swag, Low End Prices!

Call it imitations or copycats, hate it or love, the knockoffs world is making it easier for the mainstream public to finally flaunt high end designer styles with their low end budgets.

The world of knockoffs has been around for a while now and isn’t going anywhere. Whether it was recreating Kate Middleton’s exquisite Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding dress for less, or redoing the popular Stella McCartney polka dot panel dress for a fraction of the price, EVERYONE has embraced the knockoff trend.

image via:

image via:

Fashion is all about getting inspired by the world around you, recreating, and reinventing. In today’s budget tight world, we can’t help but try to look for great deals, and when we find one, and a really good one that is, our heart skips a beat of joy!

Being a designer myself, I have to admit that I tend to cringe at the sight of knockoffs because I know how much hard work goes in to creating a garment. And to see my $300 silk dress in a similar version for $25 at another retail store can be quite difficult to swallow. But then again, who am I to complain? Every design stems from some form of inspiration, past or present. It is because of this notion that copying in the United States  is entirely legal when it comes to fashion.

The key difference  between a knockoff and the real deal is usually QUALITY – quality of fabric, hardware, embellishments, or durability. But then again, if you’re getting the same high end appeal for a fifth of the price, who’s complaining?

Here are a few examples of amazing replicas for a fraction of the price:

Jeffrey Campbell vs. Quipid

Alexander McQueen vs.  Bien Bien

Are you a fan of the knockoff trend?

Who doesn’t love FRINGE? Well we sure do! Fringes are fun, flirty, edgy, and have a bold appeal – it’s no wonder why the fringe trend keeps making a come back season after season.

image via:

Because fringes create such a statement, it’s important to not overdue the look. Chose one to two items with fringe detailing and keep the rest of the look minimal. REMEMBER LADIES: We always want to be easy on the eyes and not look like an over kill. The trick is to have a few pieces of your outfit standout rather than being a concoction of of too many ingredients.

My favorite are statement shoes with fringe accents, they’re just so hot and they transform any outfit instantly! Pull out your favorite LBD and throw on some fab fringe shoes and wa-la! Also, fun fringe accessories are the easiest way to spice up your outfit. A fringe bag is also a must have for Spring – it definitely adds a boho chic element to your look!

Here are some of my favorite fringe pieces. Absolutely LOVE the turquoise fringe and studs Jeffrey Campbell heels!

1. Balmain Fringe Jacket

2. Dannijo Fringe Necklace

3. Emanuele Bicocchi Fringed Bracelet

4. Jeffrey Campbell Fringe Shoes

5. BCBG Fringe Cuff

6. Dashiki Fringed Earrings

7. Nookie Fringe Dress

8. RED Valentino Fringe Shoulder Bag

9. Miss Selfridge Fringe Bikini

10. B Brian Atwood Fringe Sandals

CROP TOP NATION – Add a little SEXY to your closet!

From Runway to Red Carpet to your own Closet – we’ll show you how to get this season’s hottest trend – the belly bearing crop top!

The Spring 2012 Runways were flooded with various versions of theses dare-to-bare tops and we’re loving every bit of it. The crop top trend has appeared for a few seasons in the past few decades, but we’re loving this season the BEST! Although these rib cage baring tops do seem to be revealing, however, the look as a whole  is chic, classy, fun, and sexy!

Here are a few stars that have rocked this look and looked amazing:

left to right: Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Gwyneth Paltrow

left to right: Shenae Grimes, AnnaLynne McCord, Scarlett Johansson, Rooney Mara

How to strut this look:  The key to success with this look is pairing a cropped, bustier style top with high waisted skirts, shorts, or pants. Mid length flowy skirts or pencil skirts are both great choices for this look as well. Add a ladylike cardigan or fun jacket if you don’t feel absolutely comfortable baring it all. Also, I personally feel that showing off only 2 inches of your ribcage is more than enough to give off that sexy peek-a-boo look. Remember ladies, it’s ALWAYS about being classy.

Here are a few fun, pocket-friendly, sexy, crop top outfits:
